PS3 Continues To Outsell 360 In Japan

December 7, 2007 - New sales figures have emerged from Japan, painting a rosy picture for Nintendo as the Christmas season heats up with both the DS and the Wii standing proud at the top of the charts.
Gamesindustry.biz revealed the figures from Media Create, a Japanese data analyst, for the week ending December 2nd, with the DS shifting 124,627 units and the Wii racking up 74,764 sales. Heading up the chasing pack was the PSP with 74,626 sold, while the PS3 dropped 36 per cent on its previous week's performance with 37,092. The Xbox 360 remains the unloved child of the Japanese videogame market, clocking up a measly 6,632 sales, some way behind the elderly PS2 which sold 13,703.
The DS has now accumulated in excess of 20 million sales over its lifespan, putting it on course to overtake the PS2's overall figures early next year.
