Bach: We Have No Competition
November 19, 2007 - In an interview with the LA Times today, Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division (house of Xbox), dismissed the PlayStation Network as a non-competitor. Not only that, Bach went so far as to say that Sony's online service isn't much of a service at all.
"It's fair to say that Xbox Live is clearly head and shoulders above anything anyone else has tried to do," Bach said. "We don't have competition. Sony has done some things online, but nothing that can be called a service. We have a big advantage and we're going to keep pressing that advantage."
Sony recently made some minor cosmetic changes to the PlayStation Network when it updated the PS3's firmware to 2.0.
